HEALTH ASSISTANT/CNA

This is a college preparatory program designed for students who plan to further their knowledge in the health care field. All students will recieve nursing assistant training. Seventy hours will be spent caring for patients in a local bursing home and hospital.

Those who successfully complete the program are eligible to take the state nursing assistant exam and become certified nursing assistants. A course in anatomy and physiology is also provided. Students will study butrition, CPR, first aid, growth & development and human behavior. A total of 4 credits are awarded which include 2 credits in anatomy and physiology.

Candidates for the Program

Must be 16 years of age or older
Be genuinely interested in working with people
Have demonstrated knowledge of biology and/or chemistry
Have good study skills and strong work ethic
Have a positive attitude and work well with others
Must be physically and emotionally capable of providing direct patient care
