How can I help Biddeford Primary School Students and Staff?

There are many ways that you can support our school without adding to your family budget! The following programs bring hundreds of dollars to BPS each year. Our students benefit greatly from these earnings. We buy technology hardware and software, school supplies and other items not funded by our school budget each year. We hope that you will consider participating in one or all of the following programs:

You can clip and send in Box Tops for Education symbols from products that your family uses. Your child can bring these boxtops to Primary School for this great fund-raiser. Ask your friends and relatives to save them for you too! This program brings hundreds of dollars to BPS each year. These do have expiration dates so send them to school often to prevent loss of points.

Hannaford Helps Schools Program usually runs for a few months in the winter. When you shop at Hannaford Supermarkets, you get a special register slip that your child can bring to school that week. Hannaford is very generous to local schools. We earned more than $1,000 this last school year alone! We'd like to exceed this amount in the new school year. We can't do it without you so, please help us out!

Labels for education are collected at Biddeford Primary School as well. These labels can be clipped from Campbell Soup cans and many other products that our families use on a regular basis. These labels give us "points" towards getting educational equipment for our school. Recent gifts included playground balls, an overhead projector, and varied school supplies.

If you have a Target Credit Card, please consider registering your card to benefit Biddeford Primary School.  It doesn't cost you a cent. Now that makes a lot of sense! Target a sends a check directly to BPS on a yearly basis to cover educational purchases.

The Kathleen Gavin Helping Hand Fund is our way of remembering a valued colleague and honor her legacy of helping students in need. For details on how you can join us in reaching out to those in need at our school, click on: Kathleen Gavin Helping Hand Fund, highlighted in blue below.

GIVE YOUR TIME! If you can share a little of your free time, we would love to have you volunteer at Biddeford Primary School. After a brief background check, the school committee votes to approve you as a school district volunteer. There are many tasks that need doing at any school. The best way is to get started is to contact the school or a teacher to see if there is something that you would feel comfortable doing. Volunteers presently:

  • Work in the school library
  • Help at recess
  • Perform clerical work for the office or classrooms
  • Chaperon field trips
  • Tutor students
  • Mentor students
  • Work with our PTO on special projects

OTHER ways to show you care:

  • Give to the Kathleen Gavin Helping Hand Fund
  • Check out our teachers' Wish List at http://www.nationalteacherregistry.com/Click on: Parents and Supporters. Next: Find a Registry. Then, type in: Biddeford Primary School. You will be shown what each teacher has placed on their "Wish List." Appreciation is guaranteed!
  • Put that green thumb to work for BPS! Any landscaper or "master gardeners" out there? Do you or any of your friends or relatives have a gardening talent? We're looking for some help with our courtyard to keep the weeds out and the beauty in! If you can spare a day or even an hour, particularly on a regular basis (spring-fall), it would be most appreciated by the students, staff, and parents who enjoy this naturally tranquil setting all year long!

If interested in volunteering at BPS, please click here! Thank you!
