Last day of school is June 15, 2012.

Biddeford Primary School Student Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

School Hours:  8:00 am - 2:45 pm

Reminder to Parents:

Most students come to school on school buses. If you, as a parent, choose to drive your child to and/or from school, you should park in the parking lot by Hill Street or in the few visitor parking spaces to the right of the cafeteria. Please do not park in the bus lane section of the driveway, as it is reserved for school buses.

Visitations to classrooms should not be made at arrival or dismissal time. Please feel free to arrange another time to meet with your child's teacher. The teacher's attention needs to be on the children at these times.

Arrivals:

Students may arrive at school no earlier than 7:45 am (unless they are enrolled in YMCA Kids Out Program). Designated BPS Staff report to duty at 7:45 am. Students may participate in the Breakfast Program or report to their class meeting place.

Students are considered "tardy" at 8:10 am. If you should need to bring your children to school at 8:10 or later, an adult must accompany them to the office, where the children are signed in and get a "late slip". Children then proceed directly to their classrooms. Frequent tardiness is referred to the assistant principal and may count towards absences for the purpose of truancy and promotion/retention.

Student Safety:

Keeping over 500 students safe, in the light of events around the country, is an awesome responsibility that we take most seriously at Biddeford Primary School. We also want parents to feel welcome and comfortable in our school. In order to keep our students, staff and visitors safe and secure, we require that all volunteers and visitors sign-in upon arrival and sign-out when exiting at the front office during the school day. This may cause you some inconvenience and a short delay. We ask for your patience as we may also ask you to show identification if you are not known to the person at the front desk.

Dismissal during the School Day:

Early Dismissal of students is done through the office during school hours  Children should never be taken from the classroom or from their lines. If you plan to have your child dismissed, please send a note that morning so that we can plan accordingly. If you plan to dismiss your child at the end of the school day (2:45) every day, please send a note to your child's teacher for our records. We also ask that you provide us with a valid phone number if there should be any questions.

Dismissal/Afternoon Pick-Ups:

If at all possible we request that you not come to school to pick up your child at the end of the school day. You are probably aware of the heavy traffic around and on Primary School Campus. Every car that is in the parking area or driveway contributes to this congestion and compromises the safety of our students. It is better for all concerned if you meet your child in your neighborhood and continue to appointments or other activities from there.

If you decide to come to the school at dismissal, you will need to park your car in a safe and designated parking space, come into the building, and come to the cafeteria (door #2)  to request your child's dismissal card. Your child will come to the cafeteria to meet you. Please bring photo ID with you.  The dismissal person may not know you.

For everyone's safety, please do not leave your car running on campus.

PLEASE let us know if there is any change in your child's routine or emergency information by sending a note to your child's teacher.
