The Support Team
at
Biddeford Middle School

Welcome to the BMS Support Team! Our group consists of the School Nurse, Sweetser School-Based Clinicians (1 full time and 1 half time), Spurwink Case Managers, School Social Worker and 2 School Counselors. 

What can the Support Team do for students?

• Provide a safe and comfortable place through either individual or group counseling for you to discuss any worries or concerns you may have about things going on in your life.
• Provide classroom lessons on topics such as study skills, bullying, internet safety and an introduction to BMS to 6th graders.
• Help you build skills needed to learn more about yourself as you grow into young adulthood.
• Help you build skills needed to relate to others in a positive and productive way.
  
• Provide crisis support, intervention and prevention to be sure that you stay safe and healthy.

What can the Support Team do for parents?

• Act as an intermediary between school and home, keeping the best interest of your student's success at school in mind.
• Connect you to helpful organizations and resources within the community.
• Provide you with useful resources to help with parenting and family concerns.
• Provide support when it comes to the educational development and well-being of your student.

A note about confidentiality:

All of us on the Support Team are bound by confidentiality.  This means that what you as parents and students share with us, we will not share with others without your permission.  The only time that we must (as instructed by law) break that confidentiality is when a student shares anything with us regarding harming themselves, someone else or when someone is harming them.
